Chief Development Officer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, develop, implement and manage all aspects of the development plan;

  • Build an effective development process utilizing the staff, management, and volunteers to meet the annual objectives of the organization;

  • Prepare a written annual fundraising plan, based on the fiscal year goals, that includes projection and strategies for achieving the goal of each funding stream to be approved by the Executive Director;

  • Collaborate with the Development Team

  • Manager to identify potential donors and members for cross-promotion.Promote and support Board involvement in development activities and engage the Board in strategic prospect identification and solicitation;

  • Manage direct mail;

  • Manage the grant writing process, research new grant opportunities, submit grant proposals that align with current program and budgetary needs, and maintain grant reporting efforts;

  • Prepare and deliver presentations about LHC's mission and fundraising goals;

  • Manage the development team and efforts and ensure effective communication and collaboration;

  • Provide relevant social media and website content to support development activities in collaboration with the social media coordinators;

  • Develop and maintain the CRM Software (donor/prospect database) to include providing designated reports and analysis to the Executive Director and the Board;

  • Develop, implement, and manage the donor relations process;

  • Successfully meet and/or exceed annual financial fundraising goals, develop and generate activity reports outlining progress towards annual fundraising goals;

  • Oversee and participate in LHC activities/events, and perform other duties as required

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • A commitment to racial justice and equity and a passion for strengthening Latinx communities.

  • Commitment to the Mission and programs of LHC;

  • A strong desire to work as part of a team and promote LHC's mission.

  • Hold a BA or BS in a related field;

  • Experience  with fund development for community, arts, culture, humanities, or similar industries.

  • Three+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising with a proven track  record of success.

  • Personally secured individual, corporate, and foundation gifts, resulting in a proven track record of fundraising success;

  • Have the interpersonal skills required to communicate effectively in all forms; and are organized, quick on your feet, possess mature judgment and a superior relationship builder;

  • Demonstrated knowledge and successful implementation of major giving acquisition programs through individuals, businesses, and corporations;

  • Successfully work in a team and collaborative environment;

  • “Hands-on” individual with the ability to complete projects remotely with minimal supervision;

  • Superior attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Grants.gov, and cloud-based donor databases(CRM).


This is a full-time position that works remotely. The Development Director will report to the Executive Director and oversee one staff member.

SALARY RANGE: $68,000 – $75,000 (depending on experience)

Reporting to the Executive Director, this position provides visionary leadership and strategy, major gift and foundation fundraising capacity, and day-to-day operational oversight and execution of LHC’s comprehensive fundraising program.

The Chief Development Officer will play a pivotal role in advancing LHC's mission by overseeing and leading all fundraising efforts. You will work collaboratively with the Executive Director, Membership Manager, and staff to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy. This includes securing ongoing and increased support from individuals, corporations, foundations and government through grants, individual donations, corporate sponsorships, and special events.
