

Development Manager
Latinos in Heritage Conservation (LHC) seeks a Development Manager to join a dynamic team and is willing to play a critical role in groundbreaking work to support Latinx heritage throughout the U.S. Along with the Executive Director, the Development Manager will work as a primary contact with members, sponsors, and donors. The Development Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to raise funds for the organization. This includes identifying potential donors and partners, cultivating relationships with them, and soliciting donations. Additionally, the role involves developing and executing initiatives to increase the organization's visibility and engagement with its stakeholders. The Development Manager works closely with the Executive Director, staff, and other stakeholders to achieve the organization's fundraising goals.

Job Term: This is a temporary position supported by grant funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation’s Humanities in Place Program, with a 12-month appointment, 40 hours a week. The selected candidate will help solidify the resources needed to transform the role into a permanent, ongoing position in our organization.
Essential Responsibilities
Development and Fundraising

Develop solicitation goals, cultivation strategies, and stewardship plans in a way that donors are respected, retained, and inspired to increase their support.

Develop and maintain project calendar of grant-related deadlines, track necessary actions, and coordinate timelines with Executive Director.

Draft and coordinate the development of grant requests by establishing timelines that outline tasks, assignments, and deadlines; meet all deadlines; facilitate timely communications with leadership and staff; and collect grant submission materials from program and finance teams.

Write and submit all required grant reports and sponsorship reports to demonstrate impact to our funders, donors, investors, and stakeholders.

Research foundation and public opportunities that align with the organization’s mission. This includes monitoring local, state, federal, and private announcements.

Coordinate and track grant milestones including proposals in development, proposals submitted to funders, deliverable deadlines, communication and awards, ensuring that all content is always complete and up to date

Oversee our membership program, including processing memberships, and donor payments.

Oversee gift processing and donor support services in DonorPerfect, including but not limited to: mailings, gift tracking, pledge reminders, and acknowledgments;

Manage development calendar and implementation of fundraising campaigns (ex. Giving Tuesday, Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month, Historic Preservation Month, etc.).

Plan, coordinate and execute fundraising events (virtual, in-person), organize and oversee event logistics including preparing printed materials, tracking donations, working with vendors, and supporting day-of-event needs

Coordinate creation of all promotional materials for development services, programs, and campaigns. Work with staff to ensure key materials are bilingual.

Create and update research profiles on current donors and prospects in response to requests from the Executive Director.

Assist in the development of the annual impact report.

Represent the organization at community meetings and events.

Perform other organizational and grant administrative priorities as may be required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (preferred) and/or 2-3 years of development and grants management experience. Preference will be given to applicants with some experience and/or understanding of advocacy-based organizations.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to think both creatively and strategically.

Excellent written and verbal communications, problem-solving and creative thinking skills

Ability to work independently, remotely, responsibly, and as part of a team, collaborate with colleagues, prioritize competing tasks, and follow through on assignments

Social Media/digital marketing is a plus.

Proficient in DonorPerfect, GrantStation, and familiarity with Grants.gov and Mailchimp

Maintain donor trust, integrity, and confidentiality at all times

Experience that lends itself to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment, with flexibility and willingness to jump in at all levels of a project to help get work done

Comfortable coordinating multiple deadlines and managing shifting priorities

Willingness and ability to travel throughout the U.S. and work evenings and weekends as needed.

Ability to speak, read, and/or write in Spanish is a plus.

Exceptionally proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and internet research skills, with the ability to learn new applications quickly. Prior CRM or donor database experience.

Excels in working independently. Remote work experience is a plus.

Annual Salary: Salary: $50,000 - $60,000
