PATROCINIOS DE CONGRESO

En agosto de 2024, Latinos in Heritage Conservation (LHC), el principal defensor del país de la historia y la preservación histórica latina, será el anfitrión del Congreso 2024, una conferencia nacional de preservación. Este evento, que se llevará a cabo del 8 al 10 de agosto en San Diego, California, tiene como objetivo explorar diversas perspectivas y fomentar la próxima generación de líderes de herencia latina.

 

Organizada en colaboración con el Museo y Centro Cultural Chicano Park, esta conferencia de tres días será un éxito con su apoyo y abordará este tema importante y oportuno sobre las voces latinas.

El Congreso 2024 marca la reunión nacional inaugural del LHC en California y la región occidental y se espera que atraiga a más de 250 asistentes de todo el país, así como de comunidades locales y estatales. Esta conferencia subraya la dedicación del LHC a fomentar un movimiento cultural y geográficamente diverso durante un período crucial para los latinos estadounidenses.

Scholarship

For the second time ever, LHC is pleased to offer scholarships to local leaders and community advocates to attend Congreso 2024. Don’t miss this national forum as we amplify our efforts to build a culturally and geographically diverse movement at a critical moment for American Latinxs. ​ APPLY HERE ​ Scholarship Details and FAQs Local Leaders y Comunidad Scholarship supports residents of Greater San Diego whose work is rooted in serving their community, can demonstrate financial need, and have the desire to learn about and contribute to heritage-related fields. Priority will be given to those from Latinx, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other historically excluded communities. Applicants should live within a 25-mile radius of the conference site in Downtown San Diego.  The scholarship will cover registration and reception costs in-full and assist  with the attendee's transportation costs through a $100 stipend (awarded before the conference). The recipient will be responsible for making their transportation travel arrangements as well as covering any costs beyond the scholarship amount. How do I apply? Interested community members should submit a completed application is due by Friday, June 28, 2024, at 11:59 PM CST. The applicant will receive notification by Monday, July 8th, 2024. What should I include in my application submission? Completed application form with a short written or video essay about your community advocacy work, career, and conference learning objectives One (1) letter of recommendation from an organization or individual familiar with your work in local advocacy and historic preservation efforts  CV or resume How is the recipient selected?  A committee of representatives from Latinos in Heritage Conservation will select the scholarship recipient based on the application materials, including the following: The individual demonstrates financial need and interest in Latinx heritage. Individuals show an active interest and involvement in preserving their heritage, community, and/or Latinx or BIPOC-related history. Has goals to seek an active role in preserving and protecting their community and history.  Who is eligible? The application is open to lifelong learners and advocates (regardless of career stage) who are new to heritage conservation and are actively working to save their community and history. Applicants should be local to San Diego (25-mile radius). Priority will be given to those from historically excluded communities to help amplify under-acknowledged voices in the heritage field.  Does a scholarship recipient have any special obligations while at the conference? The scholarship recipient is asked to be: Volunteer for a shift at each day of the conference.  Be an active participant at the three-day conference (must attend all three days), Provide a photograph to share on social media,  To participate in the informal presentation & listening session Write a thank you note to the scholarship funder,  Write a short article about their experience to be published in La Herencia, our quarterly newsletter, following Congreso.

Scholarships

LHC is delighted to offer a student scholarship for the fourth conference in a row. Don’t miss this national forum as we amplify our efforts to build a culturally and geographically diverse movement at a critical moment for American Latinxs. Scholarships are limited. ​ APPLY HERE ​ Next-Gen Student Scholarship Details and FAQs Next-Gen Student Scholarship supports currently enrolled college and/or graduate students who can demonstrate financial need and a desire to learn about and contribute to heritage-related fields. Priority will be given to those from historically excluded communities.  The scholarship will cover registration, receptions, hotel accommodations, and will provide a $500 transportation stipend (to be awarded before the conference). The recipient will be responsible for completing their own registration, making the travel arrangements and hotel reservations, as well as any costs beyond the scholarship amount. How do I apply? Interested students should submit a completed application  due by Friday, June 28, 2024, at 11:59 PM CST. The applicant will receive notification by Monday, July 8th, 2024.   What should I include in my application submission? Completed application form with a short written or video essay about your career and learning objectives One (1) letter of recommendation from a professor familiar with your academic work in the area of heritage studies  CV or resume How is the recipient selected?  A committee of representatives from Latinos in Heritage Conservation will select the scholarship recipient based on the student’s application materials, including the following: The student demonstrates financial need and interest in Latinx heritage. The student shows an active interest and involvement in contributing to the heritage field and preserving Latinx and BIPOC-related history. Has academic or career goals to seek a role in heritage-related fields.  Who is eligible? The application is open to full-time college students currently enrolled in an associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s program or certificate program in heritage fields including, but not limited to: historic preservation, history and/or public history, arts and culture, architecture, ethnic studies, sociology, anthropology, archaeology, urban planning, equity/inclusion/social justice, community engagement, and other related degree concentrations.  For students located in the San Diego area (25-mile radius), the financial stipend payment may be reduced.  Priority is given to Latinx, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other historically excluded communities to help amplify under-acknowledged voices in the heritage field.  Does a scholarship recipient have any special obligations while at the conference?
