Kuchamaa (Tecate Peak)

Año de construcción:

Since time immemorial (pre-contact)

Sacred to the Kumeyaay people long before the U.S.–Mexico border existed, Kuchamaa is a binational landscape where communities in California and Baja California still gather for ceremony. In 1992, it became the first sacred mountain listed on the National Register solely for its significance to Native peoples. Today, border wall construction and blasting are damaging its natural and archaeological landscape and restricting ceremonial access.
