Press Statement from Sehila Mota Casper, Executive Director of Latinos in Heritage Conservation

News, Press Releases

The recent reporting, together with statements shared by Dolores Huerta and by multiple women, calls for serious attention.

We stand with those who speak about their experiences, including Dolores Huerta, who has identified herself as a survivor, and recognize the courage it takes to do so.

The struggle for farmworker dignity and labor rights was built by campesinos, braceros, organizers, and families whose labor helped sustain this country. That history is larger than any one singular individual, and it must be told in full.

We have had the honor of working with Dolores Huerta, including welcoming her as a speaker at Congreso 2024, and we honor her enduring contributions to the movement.

At Latinos in Heritage Conservation, our work is rooted in preserving history with accuracy, dignity, and responsibility. This includes holding complex histories in full and ensuring that the communities who built these movements remain at the center of how they are remembered.

We remain committed to truth, accountability, and to the communities whose work continues today.
