EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS

LHC’s Teachers Professional Development & CommUNITY Workshops offer a dedicated space for educators and community members to learn about, advocate for, and get involved in Latinx historic preservation.
Teachers Professional Development

Teacher Professional Development Workshops focus on supporting educators on infusing Latinx historic preservation into their curriculum. By integrating Latinx history and cultura, participants will support students' holistic educational journeys, making learning more inclusive and engaging. The workshop will support Latinx historic preservation practically through sample curriculum, project examples, textbook analyses, and classroom resources.

In addition to resource sharing, the workshops emphasize community building and peer connections. Educators will engage in activities designed to foster strong, supportive relationships, ensuring that the connections made extend well beyond the event. These relationships will provide ongoing support, helping educators to continually enhance their teaching practices with Latinx historic preservation.

Latinos in Heritage Conservation is a pre-approved continuing professional education (CPE) provider for the State of Texas. Participating educators will receive 5 CPE credits.

CommUNITY Workshops

CommUNITY Workshops focus on the lessons in LHC’s Latinx Preservation Toolkit. Offered in a variety of formats, these workshops encourage community involvement, activism, and the preservation of important sites, stories, and cultural practices that reflect the heart of Latinx heritage.

Participants engage in hands-on activities, storytelling, and discussions that elevate local histories and empower attendees to take action in their own communities. By building knowledge and fostering collaboration, CommUNITY Workshops strengthen cultural pride and inspire grassroots preservation efforts.

Whether you're a community leader, culture advocate or simply passionate about protecting Latinx heritage, these workshops offer a welcoming space to learn, connect, and create lasting impact through collective memory and action.

No CommUNITY Workshops are scheduled at this time.
