San Antonio, Texas

Alazán-Apache Courts ("Los Courts")

Year Built:

1939-1941

Built in 1939 after Eleanor Roosevelt visited San Antonio's Westside, Los Courts is the city’s oldest public housing complex and among the nation’s earliest created for Mexican American families. More than 1,200 residents still call it home. Named to the National Trust's 11 Most Endangered list in 2020, it again faces demolition — where preservation and housing justice are inseparable.
