History Colorado and Latinos in Heritage Conservation are inviting our community to El Pueblo History Museum in Pueblo, Colorado for a free admissions summer filled with discussions and planning during a symposium rich in learning, sharing, and visioning.
Nuestra Historia Symposium offers a chance to imagine the future of preserving and educating about Colorado’s Latino heritage, encompassing traditional knowledge, historic sites, and cultural institutions. Engage with scholars and the community to exchange and develop ideas to ensure this history is preserved and communicated to future generations.
Our previewed schedule is as follows:
July 9, 2026 | 1:00pm - 4:00pm MDT
Day 1 emphasizes grounding in historic preservation and practical experience, starting with opening reflections and progressing into community-focused preservation work and collaborative storytelling.
July 10, 2026 | 9:00am - 5:00pm MDT
Day 2 transitions into historical interpretation, site identification, and reflection, beginning with the Scholar Panel to provide a framework for understanding history and place, followed by Story Circles as a lived reflection of those ideas with all attendees. It then moves into the Community Preservation Workshop, where participants apply those concepts through mapping and spatial thinking. The symposium concludes with a reflective walking tour at Plaza Verde Park, bringing the discussions back to their physical context.
