Rooted in action, focused on learning, and designed to build skills, grow leadership, and strengthen community power.
Congreso is a biennial national summit created, managed and hosted by Latinos in Heritage Conservation with the goal to bring together Latinx preservationists, architects, historians, artists, educators, and community leaders committed to protecting places, stories, and cultura.
Held since 2014, our summit has grown with the movement and reflects the evolving needs of our Latinx communities. The name recalls El Congreso de Pueblos de Habla Española, a coalition of civil rights and labor rights organizations that first convened in Los Angeles in 1938.
Due to Latinx heritage being overlooked, displaced, and erased, Congreso brings people together to protect our stories, places, and communities. We gather to learn, organize, and lead, with participants gaining knowledge, tools, and connections to drive preservation work in their own communities.

Our goal is to build a culturally and geographically diverse movement that encompasses the experiences and contributions of all American Latinxs.

Our sponsorships support students, community members, scholars, and multi-generational advocates in attending this national event. We prioritize assistance for individuals from historically excluded backgrounds to ensure their voices are heard in the heritage field.
