ICOMOS Symposium 2025 on Binational Historic Preservation: Call for Abstracts

Preservation professionals, advocates, and enthusiasts from throughout the Americas will gather November 17-21, for the ICOMOS Symposium 2025, a binational event exploring the shared heritage and preservation challenges of our region. The non-governmental organization's full name is the International Council on Monuments and Sites.


The symposium theme is Binational Historic Preservation Issues. The gathering will be held at the Centro Estatal de las Artes (CEART) in Ensenada, Baja California, with a special San Diego tour that underscores the binational ties and cultural exchange.


Call for Abstracts

Interested in sharing your work at this international symposium? Abstract submissions are open until October 15, 2025. Present your research, projects, or innovative ideas to a global audience of cultural heritage professionals.

The Conservation Society of San Antonio is one of the nation’s oldest historic preservation organizations, founded in 1924.  The Society works to save the architectural, natural and cultural heritage of the San Antonio area through education, advocacy and community revitalization.  The Society has had a principal role in the conservation of the World Heritage San Antonio Missions since the 1920s.  It owns and operates the Yturri-Edmunds Homestead Museum and leases several other historic properties in the city.  The Society has almost 1,000 members and provides regular heritage education opportunities and grants.  In addition to annual awards and building grants programs, the Society partners with City, State, and local communities to highlight the rich heritage of the nation’s seventh largest city and its surrounding counties.  Each spring during Fiesta, the Society hosts A Night In Old San Antonio®, the nation’s largest preservation fundraiser.
