Y'all, we've done it! This past month half of the LHC team was on the road traveling across Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, to bring us the Untold Stories of the Borderlands. Along the way they collected oral histories, met with 8 of our Nuestra Herencia grant recipients, documented cultural sites, and our ED even led a keynote presentation!
All this amazing work and more is possible because of YOU, our Members who support LHC. 🧡 Thank all you wonderful people once again, our team appreciates you! I invited the team to share some snippets of the road trip with you all, so feel free to comment and ask more about the trip, behind the scenes on the photos, your dreams for future projects and more. 😄

I absolutely cannot express how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to be a part of this trip! I met SO MANY amazing people (literally everyone I met!) and had the privilege of sharing space with some to collect their stories. This is a calling that is near to my heart and is always done with the love and care it deserves. I am so honored that these stories were entrusted to me and LHC and am thankful to be part of such an amazing organization that does this important, necessary work.
Thank you to everyone for their support on this project - from community members to those who donated to our LHC team and our board (I even got to meet a couple board members on the trip!). I am so excited to show off LHC's finished projects and continue showing the world how important our heritage is!
It was such a joy to be a part of this road trip! Can't wait to share the finished projects!
What a trip! To all the donors, THANK YOU! To the community and individuals trusting us with your stories, THANK YOU! It is a great privilege to sit and share space with everyone, one I do not take lightly, and I would continue to do so if time allowed. I have so many beautiful memories, but I'm personally over the moon to have shared space with my GIS fellows and seen them in the field documenting Duranguito. I have to say my favorite meal was from Nogales, AZ! The borderlands are such a beautiful, intense, and layered region <3
It’s been incredible to see this unfold. I wasn’t on the road, but I was with the team every day, following each step, making sure we hit our milestones, brought the community along, and stayed connected to the people and places shaping this journey. Hearing from the team in real time and seeing the stories return full of life has been a gift. So proud of everyone who made this possible.
